Sharman Ceremony in Chikin Ha Cenote

a sharman in front of the altar after a traditional blessing in the cenote

We went snorkelling at Chikin Ha Cenote where in one of the swimming holes a Sharmin lived and practiced Sharmanism. The Sharman is regarded as having access to and influence in the world of spirits and who can enter into a trance like state during rituals and who also practices healing.

After our swim we sat down and witnessed one of the ceremonies. Speaking in Mayan, I had no idea what he was saying but there was lots of incense, smoke and candle light.
